Shenandoah grew up in Bloomington, Indiana. After finishing high school, she joined AmeriCorps. She worked in the rust belt town of Elkhart, Indiana for a year, educating people about environmental issues. Seeking more service opportunities and adventures, she moved to Charleston, South Carolina to participate in AmeriCorps*NCCC. She helped in diverse service projects across the southeast and in Puerto Rico.
Shenandoah went back to Bloomington after two years with AmeriCorps and completed her undergraduate degree at Indiana University, where she studied biology and philosophy.
Shenandoah's maternal family has been in Montana for generations, and she moved to Bozeman to join them in 2007. After working in microbiology labs with little personal satisfaction, she finally took the leap and enrolled at the University of Montana School of Law in 2011. She completed her Juris Doctor in 2014, and was admitted to practice in Montana state and federal courts in 2015.
Since beginning her practice, she has found a passion for helping those who have been accused of crimes. Whether she is defending a traffic ticket or a serious felony charge, she fights for the rights of the accused. Since 2015, she has defended DUIs in small towns across the state and in Yellowstone National Park. In 2017, she moved to Helena to sharpen her trial skills at the Office of the Public Defenders in Helena, maintaining a winning trial record. She began her solo career in 2019, focusing 100% of her practice on criminal defense, and remains determined to fight for the rights of those accused of crimes across the state.
