More About David Baake

New Mexico business lawyer David Baake is a native of the Paso del Norte region, where the Rio Grande passes between two desert mountain ranges and the states of Chihuahua, MX, New Mexico, and Texas meet. After graduating summa cum laude from Arizona State University with a degree in biological sciences, he obtained his juris doctorate from Harvard Law School. After law school, he spent a year working on climate and clean energy law at the Natural Resources Defense Council in Washington, D.C., before completing two federal clerkships, first with Judge David G. Campbell in Phoenix and then with Judge George H. King in Los Angeles, where he became intimately familiar with commercial litigation. In 2017, David moved back to the borderlands. After a brief foray into politics, he started his own law practice. He represents clients across the country, from the D.C. Circuit to the L.A. Superior Court to the district courts in Doña Ana and Lincoln County, New Mexico.

In his free time, David enjoys backpacking in New Mexico's Gila Wilderness, traveling across Mexico, and listening to music ranging from Bob Dylan and Radiohead to Prince and Natalia Lafourcade. Fluent in Spanish, David enjoys reading literature in both English and Spanish, and usually has three or four books open at once. Recent favorites include Temporada de Huracanes by Fernanda Melchor and Fifth Sun: A New History of the Aztecs by Camilla Townsend; Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy is an all-time favorite. David is an accomplished birder, who has over 400 bird species on his life list.
