More About Joseph A. Mohr

Joseph Mohr grew up in Iowa City, Iowa, and graduated with honors from the University of Iowa College of Engineering with a major in chemical engineering. Joey's engineering experience in industry includes positions at 3M, Monsanto Chemical Company, and Abbott Laboratories. As a process engineer at Abbott Labs, Joey served as a technical expert for pharmaceutical manufacturing processes for making anesthetics, antibiotics, and treatments for HIV-AIDS. In 2002, Joey was awarded Abbott Laboratories' President's Award for a process design improvement, which significantly reduced the cost and cycle time of a Clindamycin manufacturing process.

Joey received his intellectual property attorney training at Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While in law school, he clerked at the Wisconsin Supreme Court. The comprehensive Intellectual Property Program at Marquette provided Joey with a solid foundation to build his intellectual property law practice. After graduating law school magna cum laude, Joey worked for 4 years at an intellectual property law firm in Portland, Oregon, before starting Mohr IP Law. In addition to practicing intellectual property law, Joey taught it to law students as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Willamette University Law School for 5 years.

His intellectual property law courses included Patent Law, Trademark Law and Copyright Law. These upper level intellectual property courses serve as the foundation for law students seeking to understand intellectual property law in depth. Maintaining his close connections to science and technology, Joey also served as an Adjunct Professor of Engineering at the Oregon Institute of Technology for 5 years. His courses included Heat Transfer and Engineering Mechanics: Statics, which are both required for graduation from the Renewable Energy Engineering program. OIT's Renewable Energy Engineering program is the first of its kind in the United States.
