More About Liz Sitgreaves

Liz Sitgreaves is one of our six attorneys at The Law Offices of John Day, P.C. where she focuses on appellate work, personal injury law, wrongful death and tort litigation. Liz attended the University of Tennessee College of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude and served on the Tennessee Journal of Law and Policy. Sitgreaves received her B.A. in political science magna cum laude from the University of Georgia.

Liz served as a Senior Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Frank G. Clement, Jr. of the Tennessee Court of Appeals before transitioning into private practice with the Law Offices of John Day. Liz is a self-proclaimed “people person” who enjoys helping others using the law as a conduit. She enjoys listening to her clients, understanding what they are going through, then sharing their story with the courts so her client’s story is given a voice.

Liz has been a long-time Board Member of the Lawyers’ Association for Women (LAW), Marion Griffin Chapter, and currently serves as the President of the organization. In 2015, she received LAW’s inaugural Rising Star Award. Liz spearheaded LAW’s Coalition for Fair Courts, which provided voter education and outreach during the retention elections of Tennessee’s appellate court judges.

Liz is also a member of the Nashville Bar Association, and co-chairs the Circuit and Chancery Court Committee. She previously co-chaired the NBA’s Appellate Practice Committee and was in the inaugural class of the Nashville Bar Foundation’s Leadership Forum. Additionally, she is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and was in the 2016 Class of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Leadership Law program. Liz is a Barrister in the Harry Phillips American Inn of Court and has also served as an Associate Member of the Belmont University College of Law American Inn of Court. She is also a member of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association.

Liz has long been dedicated to public service and has been designated an “Attorney for Justice” by the Tennessee Supreme Court in recognition of her pro bono service in 2015 and 2016. She has also been involved with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee for many years. Liz is a Big Sister, and organizes teams to raise funds for the organization as part of the Lawyers for Littles Bowling Events. Liz co-chaired the 2015 and 2016 Lawyers for Littles event, which collectively raised over $35,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee.

In her spare time, Liz enjoys sampling Nashville’s thriving food scene. For seven years, she wrote a monthly culinary column for the LAW newsletter, the Culinary Docket, which spotlighted local restaurants.
